About Me

Hi, 

I am Amari Lani, also known as Zari Dakari. I am a young adult author, writer, and poet. I began writing during my sophomore year of high school. I graduated from high school and college with an Associate Degree in Photography. 

When I began writing, it was an outlet. It was a way for me to release what I was going through and feeling as I dealt with challenging situations in my life. I felt understood being able to transfer my words into a safe place. I write to be able to not only share my own personal experiences, but to have people feel and relate through these stories. 

My writer name, Amari Lani was created. It originally came about as a pseudonym name. I wanted to be able to express myself and share stories with the world on social media. I wanted to gain a following from people outside of those who already knew me. It was very crucial that the name carried meaning and significance to me. I wanted a name that symbolizes what I believe while still being a part of who I am. Thus, the brave fearless woman Amari Lani was born.
